Happy New Year 2008

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

It’s probably is a bit belated, but I wanted to get it in anyway. I hope everyone out there, customers and lurkers alike, had a wonderful 2007 holiday season.

The new year is always a busy time here at Alternative Building Services. It’s tax time, and the first are due by the end of January (sales tax collections), so the 2007 books have to be closed and all that jazz in relative short order.

On the building front, there are several projects coming up for 2008. The other day I mailed off a design build contract. 15 years in this business has taught me that “done deals” are never done until the ink is dry, but assuming all goes well, you’ll be able to follow this new construction project along in under the “Projects” topic from start to finish. All entries will begin with the  “Cove House:” in the Title.

Also on our plate: A garage re-siding project; a bathroom remodel; and either a deck/covered porch on a “This Old House” style country cabin, or perhaps a carriage house rescue. And I do mean rescue! Both will be documented right here under “projects”. (My wife is now insisting, and she’s the one who actually put the nuts and bolts of this website together for me, so . . .

Also, I’m pleased to announce that I’ve decided to formally take the distributorship for our area (Northern California, aka the State of Jefferson) for the E-Z Breathe building ventilation systems. It’s a decision I’ve been pondering for 10 months. But even though I actually deplore sales, I can’t find another product that I could feel comfortable recommending to you. And as I pointed out in my November 15th article, The Problem of Indoor air Quality, since “sick house syndrome” has become an epidemic, I felt I needed an answer for you that I could stand behind. The E-Z Breathe fits the bill.

So all in all, 2008 is already shaping up to be rather busy year despite the lousy economic forecasts. But then, no job is in the bag until the ink is dry, so . . .

Stay tuned. It should be an interesting ride this year!
